I just finished a "Hoopsisters" that is all embroidered and quilted in a hoop. When the blocks were finished they were put together with strips. I learned a lot and now want to do another and do it "right" and see if I can't learn from my mistakes.

I have made one using the Cotton Theory and I have made some using Georgia Bonesteel's method of lap quilting, but that was mostly handwork.

I have Sharon Pederson's book, but I haven't actually tried her method yet. I am using her alternate method with larger strips. This is my first time. I have quilted three 12" blocks and joined the first row. I am using a small zigzag close to the edges on the sashing. I cut my sashing 3" wide, so I have about 2" with no quilting in it. I am not sure if I will put anymore quilting on the sashing. Probably not. This is a block of the month that would work well with sashing. I will post when I get enough to show.

I am looking forward to seeing what others do.

I have made some and really enjoy fmq blocks rather than whole quilts. But..........I wish there was a way to make them (Machine work only) without the sashing. You can tell it's a qayg just as soon as you see one because of the constuction method. And I'm a little concerned with one seam bearing the weight of the whole quilt (fun & done method). All that to say qayg is my future because I quilt all my own quilts on my domestic machine and have arthritis in shoulder, hands and wrist. Too hard to handle full size quilts.

I have only done this table runner and in the process of making another one and putting my own design on top. I love doing it. It is quick and easy. I would love to attempt a big quilt with the QAYG

I have made a queen reversible quilt that is made in squares and then put together. Similar to Fun and done. I'm going to do a lap quilt with the method of just piecing the batting . The top and back are completed but the batting is half of what's needed. You sandwich and quilt half of it, then sew batting together, sandwich and quilt the rest. It will be practice for another larger quilt that I want to do. There are a lot of methods out there that work well. I just learned of one from a new quilting friend. It's like the Chinese Coin design. The quilt is sandwiched, SITD quilted along the seams between the coin strip and the long saying strips between.

I'm the same, I want some really GOOD directions that I can use and not screw up.

Yep I like it. I can do quilting on the road and then put it all together.
