Yes, especially if I cut pieces for a pattern and end up by having cut it wrong! You'd be amazed how creative you can get then--and most of the time it turns out better than the original I wanted to make!

I'm a visual learner and usually need pattern. However, I have been known to go by "adjustments" to the pattern. I could never be a designer, but I do like their work!

I very often make some kind of change, design or size or something.

I only did one pattern so far. The rest are my creations! I think...

No patterns yet. I get an idea and go from there. Fabric selections dictate pattern usually. :)

I just said the exact same thing to a lady at church. I've only been quilting a couple of years and asked her to help me with pinwheels. She said "I'd have to look at your pattern." I said "Oh I don't have a pattern" and she said "Well maybe that's your problem!" LOL That's when I told her I quilt like I cook. I'm still having problems with those darn pinwheels, but I guess I'll eventually get it! :)

Practically every time. I hate to follow a pattern. I just use it to get the general idea. I start with the size I want to end up with and work backwards.
