Yes, in fact I'm working on a quilt now for my very bestest friend from high school and I'm sew in love with it. It's not the pattern, but the fabrics that I've grown to love. I know everyone says I can make another one for me and keep it, but wrong, I can't get any more of the fabric. I will finish it and give it to her and hope that she enjoys it as much as I have as I made it just for her! It's a surprise for her so she wouldn't know if I kept it and did a second one for her, but I would so off it goes to my DF.

Im facing the same problem here. My nephew and I have been exchanging monkey themed gifts for years. I ordered fabric (Goodnight Monkey, by Moda) to make him a quilt. When it arrived, I fell in love and have been wrestling with my conscience about keeping it for myself.

I think it's a good sign when you still LIKE the quilt after working on it, especially if it took a long time to do. I give it to the intended person and take lots of photos, sometimes make keepsakes to remind me of it and move on to the next project. If I really wanted one I made for someone else, I'd make another similar to it and change anything that bothered me the first go round.

Usually I's so sick of looking at it that I'm more than happy to hand it over!

I have thought about it, but then I can always make me another, so give the original away. Do take pictures and make notes about each one, it will help if you do decide to make another.

Yes, this did happen to me. I didn't feel guilty because I made another quilt for the person and they didn't know about the first one. The one I kept is my favorite quilt.

I get attached to all the quilts I make. I still give them away and hope they will be loved.

Yes, I am sometimes tempted. If you have any leftover fabric of these colors, tell yourself you can incorporate them into another quilt. You can part with it, but make sure to take a few pictures of it before you do.
