    Just bought the flat felled foot for my Bernina 880. I would like to make some lap robes our guild is donating to nursing homes. I'm going to practice on some placemats first. Thank you so much for the link. I have bookmarked it on my iPad!

    I can't do that much hand sewing due to carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis in my right wrist and elbow. I have had a few quilts judged and gotten nice comments on how well I do it and it looks good.

    I sew my bindings entirely by machine. I sew it to the back first and then turn over to the front and top stitch it down with either a straight or decorative stitch. The majority of my quilts are for 2 charities and get washed often, therefore the binding stitches must be secure.

    I'd love to see a closeup of that, Pam. I have trigger thumb, and it gets riled up by hand-sewing. I use tiny stitches on my bindings and probably have a death grip on the needle.

    I find it interesting that as many monumental leaps and bounds technology has made, like in-utero fetal heart surgery for example, but there's still basically only one way to move a piano.

    That said, I just don't like the way the back of the binding looks any other way than when it's hand sewn. Besides, that gives me time to catch up on Boardwalk Empire!

    Like many others who posted, I also very much enjoy finishing my binding by hand. It is mindless, relaxing work for me and is the culmination of a long process.

    I enjoy hand sewing. I put a book on and can finish a king size binding in 8 hours.

    I enjoy hand sewing the binding. I can do it watching tv or while holding a conversation at guild meeting.

    I don't feel that a quilt is mine unless the binding is sewed by hand. I tried sewing it by machine once and ended up ripping it out.

    I have never hand sewn anything. If my beautiful machine can't sew it then it doesn't get done.

    I actually enjoy sewing the binding on by hand. I feel like it is relaxing and I can sit and talk to my DH and on top of that our dog enjoys getting to be the 1st one to actually use the quilt!
