    What I need to know is, what is the distance in inches from the needle to the end of the table as you face the machine.

    That helps immensely - thanks!! I just purchased a Brother 1500 and am setting it up the same way as the HQ for FMQ. I sat down and tried the HQ at my dealers and liked the way it felt but they have since sold it so they couldn't give me an answer.

    Pleased to be able to help. I thought it would take me a bit of time to get used to facing the 'end' rather than the 'side', but it didn't at all. I wish you well with your new set up.
