or do you own one and store it away in the closet? Thanks so very much for any input.
Mine sits quite nicely in a dresser drawer
Actually, for raw edge applique cutting you can't beat it. I love my GO! for cutting a lot of the same shape but being able to scan and cut my own applique shapes is awesome. It sounds like that's what you're looking for so I'd say go for it.
    Aren't we all so helpful?

Are there good online classes? No stores anywhere near me even sell the things, much less offer classes.

Oh yes indeed, you are all so very helpful and it is appreciated by so many of us. I really don't know where I would get all the help that I have gotten on here. My mind is made up...I am going to buy the Scan n Cut. Pat

My Mom has now purchased 3 and sold 2 of hers. She is considering selling the 3rd. She, at 80, cannot get begin the learning curve, cutting the mats etc. I am no help, I have no desire for appliques.

Before you spend the $450-500 on a Scan N Cut, check out the Shilouette, too. I got mine for about $230 and I like it for cutting applique shapes, vinyl, paper and plan to use for heat transfer soon. I have the pens but havent' yet tried them--next on list. For fabric, it works best to put a light weight fusible on the back. I do keep a separate cutting blade for fabric.

If you're a prime member, check amazon tomorrow. They're having a big sale for prime members and I remember the silhouette going on sale on black friday so maybe it will tomorrow too. I have an older one and it cuts fabric with stabilizer ironed on it.

My sister has a Scan N Cut and also the Accu Cut....so I get to play with them on a sewing weeks a couple times a year, The Scan & Cut wastes way less fabric than the other one, since you can "move" your designs to butt up practically right next to each other. Both are nice to have, but if I could only have one, then I would pick the Scan N Cut.

I'm keeping an eye on this because I have one and need tips on how to use it for quilting.

They do work with the McKenna Ryan appliques. I just bought one for that reason. My friend finished the McKenna's new Halloweenies pattern in a weekend using the Scan N Cut without problems.
