    They both serve very different purposes, so aren't interchangeable, IMHO. If you mostly aplique, having a machine that can cut out one layer of fabric at a time for applique, would be awesome. However, my friend bought one at the Houston Quilt Show last year and has hardly used hers.

    I'd wanted an AccuQuilt Studio for several years, but really didn't have the dedicated space. When they came out with a lighter, foldable model, I jumped on it and couldn't be happier. I can cut out a bargello quilt in less than two hours . . .with a variety of strip dies, I can use it to quickly cut out most quilt patterns, just by turning the strips over strip dies to make squares, rectangles or diamonds, and the speed and accuracy is just awesome. I couldn't be happier with my purchase
