Do you just need to do an easy one sometimes?

Definitely! I get discouraged with too many "difficult/time consuming" projects. Sometimes I just need something quick and easy to I can get something finished instead of just stashing another UFO in my closet. It also helps to convince DH that I really DO need more fabric if I can point to something that actually did get done!

Oh yes it's a psycholgical holiday doing no brainer sewing - sessions of chain piecing charms or sewing long edges of jelly rolls and listening to a good book is so refreshing. Spray baste, then loopdeloop FMQ (really satisfying) and bind with a topstitch finish. The sense of achievement is so good for the moral that you can tackle that complicated project. I usually do one of these every coupla months to donate and I have a rule with these quilts - no seam ripping. A lady who has been quilting for decades told me that was her trick to kick the quilting slump so I copied her and it really does work.

Now to some SID and I am done.

I like to change my pace, challenge level, and get away from multi piece blocks and do something simple or for a little girls doll bed. It's like regressing to being a child again when my mom used to make me a doll quilt, new dress from scrapes of my new dress or perhaps a sheet & quilt for the doll bed.
Happy quilter's love to change their techinques every once and a while... Have Fun whatever you're making
