I collect them in a drug pill container and give them to the pharmacist to be disposed of like the hospitals do, that way they don't end up in the garbage and drugs addict don't use them

Why would you want the old needles from the Dr's office. Even if you don't use them for sewing, they could be contaminated and dangerousl.

Ooowwww, I don't think I belong in this thread but I've never let that stop me before :>).
I don't change with every new project (more likely when the machine begins to sound "strange");
I just throw the old needles in the trashbag (I know, shame on me);
I enter these comments to let the newbies know that you don't have to be perfect and you don't have to follow all the safety rules. Some may want to use me as an example for instituting the elusive "quilt police" we all talk about
I'll try to do better, now that it's been brought to my attention.

I do not change needles with every project. Only if I start hearing the needle making a popping noise when trying to go through the fabric.

I do change the needle when doing a large project like quilting a quilt. I use my own judgement as to how many small projects I can stitch before changing the needle. I do use some of them to hang pics. I keep a tape dispenser with masking tape on my sewing table any old warnout needles, broken needles, bent pins I wrap in a piece of tape then dispose of in the trash.

I save them. I have a lot of "stuff" hanging on my walls with them. Thay don't make big holes and thay can be covered with a coat of paint or a dab.
