I saw a pattern for a beautiful wall hanging that I really wanted to make. When I showed my sister, she asked where I was going to hang it. As if I thought that far ahead.

So, do you have a need then find a quilt pattern to fulfill your need? Or do you decide to make a quilt and then find the use for it?
pretty much, but I have been known to change things alittle. lol

I never even have a clear idea of what the quilt will look like when it's done-the process of discovery is what makes it so interesting to me :D

so do I have some one in mind when I make a quilt. I have only a few that I made for myself but they are stored away in a plastic drawer in my sewing room.

I always have someone in mind to give my quilts to before I make them. I don't do small quilts, only bed size so that probably makes a bit of a difference. I have yet to make a quilt for myself and I've been quilting for (OMG) almost 40 years!

I quilt because I love to quilt. I never think about what I'm going to do with a particular project, unless it's something I've been requested to make by one of the grandkids. I just quilt and occasionally I'll put the word out that I'm having a quilt trunk sale. Been doing this for years (quick Christmas money or when I need more room for newer quilts). LOL
