Default Do you label your quilts?

I have wondered about labeling my quilts. I am making a few baby quilts for great niece/nephew and I am wondering if I should put a label on it. What goes on your labels? I do have an embroidery/quilting machine, so I can make my own custom labels. I'd like to get the project put together and be done prior to them being born, maybe for their baby showers. I've only done one label and that was a practice one and it was for my own quilt. Any ideas or photos would be wonderful. Also, what size are your labels?
    Thanks!!!!

I myself think labels are nice. I wish my mother had labeled hers at least with the dates on them.

I always label quilts I make especially when they are a gift. I use computer to design and then use permanent pen and light box to trace my ideas. You will be able to make really lovely labels with your embroidery machine -- I have seen examples here at QB - surely you will be given a lots of ideas

PS I wait until the baby's birth so I can add more info

I label my quilts. Size of label depends on the quilt. On the label I put who it was for, the date, & my name. If it's for a child, I put from grandma, aunt, ect with my first name. For the grandkids, - one was a quilt of lighthouses in MI, I also had on the label "may there always be a light to show you your path". Another one was all brights, children's prints, I had "may the threads of your life always be strong and bright".

Absolutely label those quilts - and make sure you add your birthdate and how you fall in the family tree.

I think labels are nice but unfortunately, there never seems time to do them unless a requirement for the quilt in competition. I do a lot of charity quilt tops now so it doesn't bother me who takes credit for the quilt. I am just delighted that someone in need receives a lovely quilt.

always! the bare minimum I include on a label is- name of the quilt, date, my name, city, state, fiber content and care instructions. when it's a 'personal' quilt I know who it is going to, or for a special occasion I also add information/details about that. I've written stories, poems, special things on gift quilts. every project receives a label with at least the minimum information

Yes, I label my quilts. I chart the wording on graph paper and back stitch (an outline stitch for cross stitch) the information on 18-count, antique white Aida cloth using embroidery floss in a color from the quilt, making sure it is a dark enough color to read.

The label should be as big as it needs to be in order to hold the information you want to include.

The minimum information to include would be the name of the quilt, the recipient's name, your relationship to the recipient, the year(s) the quilt was made and where it was made.

It's good to have that information because life often gets so busy, you do tend to forget, and years from now, heirs to your quilts will be grateful for it.

I don't label. I tell the people who receive my quilts.. use it up in my lifetime.

I don't label mine either. The only thing I've considered adding was washing instructions.
