I always listen to music when I'm sitting at the sewing machine, what it is very much depends on my mood. The last few weeks I alternated my listening between The Band Perry and Holly Williams. Today (it's morning in Sweden), I will probably listen to Miranda Lambert.

My taste in music is a little diverse..... Some days it's Opera albums and Classic FM on the radio. Other days it's Elvis, 50s Rock and Roll and Dolly Parton
. I keep meaning to try an audio book, but not sure if I'll be able to concentrate.

Last.fm is an internet radio that lets you favourite or ban songs. It can also log what you play from media player/iTunes etc so learns what you like. Unlike pandora, there are no adverts and no charges. Completely free.
I always have music on while sewing. Lately I've been having a lot of country & western and 90s pop.

I like to put on a playlist while I quilt. Generally, the music genre matches whatever type of quilt I'm making. Right now, I'm working on some old fashioned, traditional quilts, so my music choice is bluegrass and old timey music. (The Tillers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Iris Dement, John Prine, etc.) When I move on to more contemporary quilt styles, I'll put on some Coltrane, or Brubeck, a 1930's style quilt, Billy Holiday, the Duke. What do you like to listen to?

Interesting discussion. I listen to music a lot but I find that if I'm working on the long arm and listening to something with a strong rhythm or beat, it interferes with the quiltilng. I tend to want to follow the music's beat instead of the rhythm of the design So I listen to something like Carlos Nakai or something that doesn't distract me. If I'm just sewing, or cutting pieces, that's another matter entirely. I love jazz or vintage Country and Western.
