I have eight machines....a treadle called Lula Mae, a featherweight called Cornelia Mae, another called Iza, a green 185K called Agnes, a 99k called Honor, a Brother called Betsie and a Janome 65P ...... All are my treasures and all will be passed along to my grands and great grands !!

I, too, don't name my sewing machines--I have enough trouble remembering ANY names anymore--kids, grandkids, friends, neighbors; I blame it on my medicine. It just never occurred to me to name my machines, and now I have too many to even give that a thought. I am into giving away or selling off as I am running out of room, for machines and fabric. I recently sponsored a quilting class, and provided everything to the students--machine, fabric, pattern, thread; and if you can believe it, had only one taker/student. But we had a wonderful time. I will be trying that again in the fall.

I waited for years to get my dream machine, (Lara) but when I did get her I was scared to death to use her, what if some thing happened to her, then I would no longer have my dream machine, oh heart breaking, so I got a back up, (Petra) then I was able to use them both with no worries, but then had a chance to get another one at great price so grabbed it, (Natacha) and then just last month (Velda) came to me. Now they are all Pfaff 7570's they use the same feet, bobbins and they all thread the same way, I just have to know how to use one to know how to use them all.

Now I also wanted a FW, (Devin) (means little black one) was my first, so cute , then along came (Brigit) a beautiful blue, and (Zelenka) which means little green one, and she is a beautiful shimmering green, and then last month (Keaira, Little dark one,) another black one, came to live with me, now they all use same feet and bobbins, I can have each threaded with different color thread and just go to machine with the color thread I need.
I have my studio set up with 4 Pfaff's and 4 FW's and have 8 office chairs for comfort, and ease to move about. I wanted to have every thing set up this way so when quilt buddies come for a sewing day all is ready. cutting table, and mid arm also share the space, along with love sear sofa, TV and about 37 DVDs from quilters home and 25 or so other DVD's on quilting. a great place to do hand work and relax. I have every thing I need in this one space, and yes I name my machines. LOL

My 1940ish industrial singer is called Granny. Loud, cantakorous (sp). She doesn't do anything new but she is workhorse, she will sew through anything, at 100 miles per hour, (in a straight line anyway). I really do love my Granny.

Enjoyable topic. I'm no good at naming and remembering the names. When I need to name quilts, my daughter is the best help. She names her cars: there's Brad (don't know the origin of that one, suspect some crush), then Plain Jane (no frills pick-up), the intimidator (automatically locks the doors)... The Gammill is Gertrude, and that's where I should be right now.
