Because of talk here I didn't press my binding before putting on my binding I'm working on now. I loved how it went on and is sewing down. I do press the front side, after attaching the binding to get out any excess, but not all the way to the fold, just were it is attached.

I always press the binding in half before attaching because I don't pin either.

I do the same. I press the binding seam and then press to the back of the quilt and hold with clips. I find I get less hand cramps trying to hold everything in place by doing this.

I pin my strip of binding, but I never iron it. I also don't pin it to the quilt as I attach it. One other thing that I found helpful is to not trim off the excess batting or backing fabric until after I have attached my binding. Less stretching and puckers.

I wash, starch & press everything before cutting and sewing. I do not press my binding or quilt after it is complete. I wash the finished quilt on gentle cycle.

Most of the time, I make my own binding with material, so it's necessary to press it to get the shape/size I need.

I always press my binding in half, makes it much easier to sew on. I do use clips to hold it while I hand sew the back. It all makes it fast and easier to sew. I never press anything after it is finished. I wash and dry when finished and that is what I like. Do however you like.

Until my last project, I ALWAYS pressed my bindings VERY carefully. However, I did a binding on the top of a purse without pressing and loved the look. It was easier, saved a step. No more pressing for me. I have sewed for many years and never heard of NOT pressing before a recent thread on here. This board is awesome for all the ideas everyone shares.
