Default Do you prewash fat eighths?

I'm a prewasher but I've never used fat eighths before so I don't know if they will fray too much to wash. I got some as a gift and where they were rolled into the pack they are sticky from the label (all the way around). What do I do?

I wash everything, even 5" charms. I wash them by hand, in a basin, a few drops of laundry detergent. Rinse well (don't wring). Then spin them in my salad spinner. I have a lot of counter space in my kitchen, so I smooth them out on the counter overnight to dry, often I don't need to press.

You might need to use Goo-Gone or something like that to get the sticky from the labels off.

I prewash everything. If the pieces of fabric are small, I just put a little laundry detergent in a bowl and wash the pieces in the sink. I rinse good and hang outside on a wooden rack. They come out nice. Do need some pressing usually.

I throw Fat 8ths in the washer. No problems so far.
Cold water, gentlest cycle ... that size I lie flat to dry.

I place small pieces in a lingerie mesh bag, where they are protected during washing. They do not fray and come out fine.

I think you've answered your question with you self-identification as a prewasher. All the suggestion about handwashing or washing in a mesh bag are good, but since I don't prewash anything, I wouldn't risk fraying a skinny little piece of fabric! Good luck, whatever you decide! froggyintexas
