Do you quilt on Sunday?

It's no different than spending time on the computer all day on Sunday. As for me, I quilt on Sundays when I want to. We are not living by the rules of the pharisees and sadducees any longer!!! Keep His day Holy and enjoy stitching!!!

Some churches still believe in a policy of not doing any sort of work on Sunday but its not a custom that's observed much any more. Besides that, quilting isn't work, is it? If it worries you, check with your pastor; he's likely to give you better advice on this one than your mother-in-law.

I quilt any time I want to. Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest but I have had jobs when we worked 7 days a week 12 hours a day. I worked because I could not afford to lose my job. Quilting is not work, it is relaxing time.

It is a religious thing and your grandmothers understood it.
"It has to do with the need for regeneration and the strengthening of our spiritual being. God knows that left completely to our own devices without regular reminders of our spiritual needs, many would degenerate into the preoccupation of satisfying earthly desires and appetites. This need for physical, mental, and spiritual regeneration is met in large measure by faithful observance of the Sabbath day." found from a talk about the Sabbath from Elder Faust.
Very few people today even attend church or see it as a commandment.
Am I complete Sabbath day observer. No, I am human and have more work to do in this area.
