I was saving them and then noticed I cut close to the selvage so how much would really show? I saw a bag a lady & asked her some questions. She cuts a 2" strip. Is that going to waste some of the good fabric?? Guess it depends on the pattern cause I always have some fabric left.
I think I will try to save selvages again. I think it would be a cute bag to store a quilt in or to take shopping.

I haven't been saving mine, as mine are usually just too short-like 1.5" or 2.5". And I'd have to try to remember to do so. Not sure how skinny they can be to be used. I try to use my fabrics as much as I can. Maybe need to find a small project to save for, and see how it goes!

To those who sew things with salvage pieces:
How much "color" do you leave on sevages you save????
I throw away very small pieces, but have always saved longer ones. I use them to try out designs, and for trying out fabric paint (do I have the color right). Since I've begun quilting I use savage edges as "ribbon" for packages. Also, tie up sleeping bags and quilts that are stored on the top shelf of the closet. I've never cut a inch or two of fabric with the selvage. Maybe from now on I'll measure from the less-salvage side when I cut fabric, if I don't need every inch. That way I may leave some fabric with the larger salvage.
I like the products made with salvage. The best in recycling!!!!!
