yes ..i do. i finish the binding miters on front & back as o hand stitch the back of binding. i read that you need to do this if entering quilt in shows. but i've always done it because it's a nicer looking finish. i'm beginning to think that those of us who transitioned from clothing & home dec sewing, where finicky finishing work are the norm for final appearance, into the hobby of quilt sewing for fun, just naturally carry over the tiny little bits of detail work when we finish our quilts.

Like others have mentioned, I sew my binding to the back first then machine sew it to the front. I don't enter my quilts into shows, I donate them to charities who sell them to raise funds or give them to friends.

If my thread matches the binding I will secure the corners with machine stitches, otherwise I won't.

I will not handsew to save my life. (Well...maybe to save my life!! But I avoid it otherwise.)

There was a discussion on this board about snouts in your binding: snouts???? Never heard about it before, but conscious of it now!

I use 2" wide binding strips. Just a stitch or two on that miter. If using wider binding stips, as I was originally taught to use, yes, needs done for sure!

I learn something new every day! Had never thought to sew the little corners, but I'll try it next time.

I do it this way too. I wash and dry all quilts before donating, the corners stay put.

Yes, I hand stitch the miter on both sides. If machine stitching, I stitch into the corner and back.
