    I don't stitch around the outside edge. I don't trim the back and binding away until after I stitch the binding on the front by machine. I trim about a 1/2 inch from the STITCHING line so that when I wrap the binding to the back, the binding will be nice and full. I was docked points at a quilt show once because my binding was not full.
