Do you wash your quilt when finished?

Even back when I prewashed my fabric I always threw the quilt into the wash as soon as I finished the binding. It can be months or even years from when a quilt gets started to when it's finished so they always need washed.

With two dogs and a cat in the house, washing after finishing is must for me. I use the gentle cycle and a low speed spin, then tumble dry on low heat. When the quilt s dry if it is being given to someone a a gift I fold it neatly and place a sache in between the folds, usually the fresh cotton or clean linen scented one and then place it in a plastic bag. When the open it they get the doube peasure of a handquilted quilt that smells wonderful!

I always wash the quilt as soon as the binding is on. Gentle cycle, cold water, followed by drying on low temp until almost dry, then stretch it out on the floor to see if any blocking is necessary. I also pre-wash the fabrics.

No pre-wash unless the fabric is really bright or sometimes pre-wash flannel. Always wash the completed quilt before giving it to its new home. Usually find a couple of seams that were missed that need repair - then I send it fresh and clean to its new home.

Always. I wash with warm water and a color catcher then hang it up to dry. I LOVE the way they pucker up like a well loved and used quilt and I can also look for loose threads or any problems with seams BEFORE I give it to someone!
