Yes, I always wash quilts. Esp. if giving away. I do not want them to have any surprises.

I don't pre-wash but I do after the quilt is done. I like them crinkly:-)

I have never thought of washing when it's done. I've got two ready to give as gift's. I better get to doing my laundry. Thanks all.

I don't prewash my fabric (did in the beginning). When finished, I wash with warm water, dry completely in the dryer. I like the puffy quilted look. I use mainly cotton batting, so EVERYTHING shrinks!! :-D

I always prewash my fabric. When I buy new fabric as soon as I get home I take it to the serger and serge the end and wash it . I guess I'm the odd ball and never wash a quilt when it is finished. No cats, dogs in house and most of the time when I start a quilt I finish it and it goes on a quilting frame and don't get handled to much except when I put the binding on.

I always wash my quilts when done. Like the washed, wrinkled look and after making a quilt it needs to be washed.

I like the reasoning behind washing a completed quilt. How do you wash the king size quilts? I hate to take any laundry to the places with big machines. You never know who used them last. We do have a laundry service just down the street from work. Do any of you have experience with this type of service? I have two very large king quilts that I would like to wash so they soften up, but don't know how to. Thanks have a great day!!!

Yes, mine always get washed when finished. I think that is best because when I work things get on the floor or you get dirt from handling so much. Has worked for me for a very long time.
