Do your quilts have to match your room?
#12
When making a quilt for someone else, I try to stick to their tastes and the colour scheme of their home. I do this because I want it to be *used*...and I worry that if it doesn't "match" it will be stuck in a closet instead of thrown on the couch like I intend it to be!
In MY house? ANYTHING GOES!

Well I have to admit, I am a matchey type of person. So mine at my house do match. But I have seen some of the quilts that I gave away in unmatching rooms but as long as the person in that room loves it, that is all my quilt needs. Just a little love.

I'm like the others, I don't have anything that matches in my bedroom. Right now I have a quilt that my MIL made for me and it's mainly blue and white but it has scrappy 9 patches as well. It's a beautiful quilt. That's why my bedroom is still painted white. Everything goes that way.

The ones I keep coordinate, though don't necessarily match. When I make them for others I either focus on their favorite colors or colors they have requested. Anyone that prefers perfect color matching likely won't get a quilt unless they do the shopping. Requests I get are usually general - all blues to go with the babies eyes, or the teen that loves bright green and bright purple.

My color scheme is white & more white. I change my mind so often that if I chose a color scheme with actual color in it, I'd grow weary of it in 6 months or so. This way, I change color scheme by changing the quilts - or just toss the right colored one on top of the others!
