Just went to a lecture by Sue Nickels and she says barefoot is her favorite way to sew, she can control the speed better.

Craftybear - It was about machine quilting and raw edge applique. She has 2 books out on those subjects too, but this lecture truly covered the basics and she provided us with a hand out with notes of the points she touched on. I really enjoyed it.

I find that my pedal slips if I wear shoes. I much prefer being barefoot. Even in the winter. I have REALLY tough feet... I end up occasionally having to sleep in special socks that help heal my cracked heels that develop from spending so much time barefoot. Even in my classroom at school, I take off my shoes the minute my students leave my classroom during my planning period. I wear clogs in the winter so I can slip off my shoes the minute I get inside the house.
My dh is the ONLY one who is allowed to wear shoes in the house. My kids are just like me... barefoot all the time. My dh doesn't go barefoot more than a few minutes a day, unless he is sleeping at night.

I sew barefoot. I'm like you, the minute I get home the shoes come off. I have never liked wearing shoes, maybe because I have a terrible time finding comfortable shoes. I have short little wide feet with very high arches.
In my teens it was cool to go everywhere barefoot which is probably why restaurants now say "No shoes, no service"
