find that there are people they have a thousand (okay -so I exaggerate) quilt ideas for and some you just can't think of anything. My mom and my boyfriend I just keep seeing fabrics and thinking "that would make her/him a great quilt". My brothers/sisters, I just don't. Do you think it's because I know more about what they like or don't like, or that they are just more vocal about it. I do see/talk to them more than anyone else so maybe that's it? Just wondering.

Me, too. I could make at least 1000 for my daughter. Not so many for my sons.

Yes, I think that is true of all of us (smile). I normally don't create a quilt for someone that does not have an idea in my mind. It may come later and then that will be the time for a new creation. You are not alone in this. Thanks.

That's the way I feel, too, but sometimes you want to make someone a quilt but it's hard when the inspiration just isn't there.

Sometimes I know too much about the person and it makes it hard to find just the right pattern and fabrics. .. and there are other times .. I just lack any inspiration... other times I can have analysis paralysis , too much inspiration so I can't make a final decision.

I would like to make my daughter one, but she wants all plain fabric, no designs, not even batiks. I don't know if I can do that, anyone have a pattern for a "non design" quilt.

When I see certain patterns I think of certain people. Woodsy ones I think of my DH, scrap quilt w/ repo I think of DD, Sunbonnet Sue DGD, birds my Mom and the list goes on and on.

I have found that the guys I have made quilts for seem to care less about what the quilt looks like than what it feels like. This has surprised me with how visual guys normally are. They have liked the jeans/dockers/shirting quilts that I back with flannel better than the lighter weight cotton quilts.
