I have tied some, depends on the type of quilt "look" I'm going for. I use crochet cotton or embroidery cotton and a chenille needle or a curved upholstery needle depending on thickness.

My hands just won't let me tie quilts for very long. I do love the look.

I learned to tie quilts from my mom. God bless her. And I still tie them. But I am learning to hand quilt. But I still like my hand tied ones.

Some times I tie. And it depends on the quilt too.

I tied some "puppy quilts" and my dachies promptly chewed off the yarn!

My grandma used knitting yarn, probably a worsted weight. As for the knot I am not sure what it was called, but I could probably still do it if I spent some time trying to get it right.

I prefer the twisted embroidery floss to tie with. So far it holds up best of anything I have tried.

I don't tie mine, I did a couple that way and found I enjoyed quilting a lot more
