I think the first on is called Turkey Tracks or a variation of it.

the second one seems to be put together from other blocks. It has a small Bear Paw in the lower corner and I don't know what to call the rest of it. It is interesting and I have never seen the combination.
    Nice blocks.
    peace

I believe the second one may be a basket of some sort, but cannot tell what is in it. Nice good patches.

a basket block is my first guess, too, but it almost looks like a basket two ways-------depending on which corner you decide is the top.

It actually looks like the blocks were sort of designed by the maker.....first looks like robbing peter to pay paul, with a few petals to fill in space...second is a basket bottom with ????in it to make top section. Might have been done just to do something, or practice stitches, or who knows...You will probably never know the truth behind them, but very interesting

I am with you. I am not real up-to-date on identifying blocks, but I have seen a Steps to the Altar that might be what the second one is a variation of. The Bear's Paw part is an interesting addition to the block's design.
