Janome Memory Craft 5000?
I have one of these old sewing/embroidery machines. It sews like a champ and the embroidery it does is very nice. The problem I have is that I only have about 10 of the cards that plug into the side.. I have seen many other cards but I cannot tell which card it will read and which it won't. Some cards that are identical in size and and shape are not readable by this machine.
I know the machine is an old one, but it works great. I would like to know if anyone knows how I can find out which cards are readable by this machine. The Janome dealer here was no help.. I see other embroidery cards for sale on places like E-bay but since I can't tell if the machine will be able to use them I don't buy any.. Just because they say it will work in a 5000, 9000 etc, doesn't mean a thing, I know for certain that just because it will plug in doesn't mean it will read the card.
If you have one of these old machines, or know about them I'd like to find out some other things as well.. thank you, I know someone here will know all about it!

Sadiemae;
That was very helpful! I have looked on the internet but had not found anything as precise as that information! They give a list of cards, I would guess those numbers will all work. It did say 'hundreds', but I won't need hundreds for sure. I was also interested in what the Scan & Sew PC was called. It would be fun to find one of those and really open up the options. The 5000 does not hook directly to a PC and I knew there was a reader out there, just didn't know what.
I have a beautiful new Pfaff Creative Vision machine, but would like to pass this one on to my DD. Thank you for finding that for me!!

I have the MC9000 and love it too! Great, great machines. I always check the www.janome.com website and it lists which cards go with which machines. Or there's a contact e-mail where you can ask to make sure. I have tons of cards. All of which I never use anymore. But, I know the second I sell them, I'll need them. You know how that goes!!

HI Candace; I went to the janome website but did not find anything concerning the MC5000.. I have fairly good skills with computers, so I don't know how I could miss listings for the 5000. I did see where I could contact them and I may do that... Thank you for the reply, if all else fails I'll contact them directly.
Did you buy all your cards from the dealer or have you picked them up here and there other places?
