I don't use mine for piecing but I use is for decorative stitching and for fmqing.

After reading the board here I started using the start/stop button on my new Janmome 2160. My neck and shoulders say "Thank You!" to all of you!

I have not managed using the start button successfully. It requires planning because the hand needs to leave the fabric and hit the button at the correct time. Sorry - not that coordinated.

i used to use it all the time for about 7 yrs, now i have a mechanical mach and use the foot pedal, it was great for my son when his legs didn't reach the floor

I think that using the off/on button would really take some getting use to. Don't you lose some control, like running the machine too much with no fabric?

Yes, I have the button on my new machine and I love it. I have plantar facitits on right foot, and now I can sit for longer periods of time and piece. Best thing since sliced bread!
