Thanks for all of your replies, after lunch I am going to local quilt shop and see what they have. You have given me lots to think about. This is great, you all helped so much. Appreciate it very much.

Lots of people still use poly batting.

The way it is made now, is different to the earlier days, so that it now stays together.

If you quilt it at the recommended spacing, there shouldn't be any problem with the poly batting staying together.

I use it all the time - simply because here the price is about 1/10th of the cost of cotton batting per meter.

I use poly batting about half the time. I tried Warm & White and it worked well. So far, no complaints.

Yes. I think they are warmer than cotton but I usually use a cotton/poly blend.

I really like the Quilter's Dream poly. It behaves more like a cotton batting but it doesn't shrink at all. It's also nice and flat but has just enough definition for your quilting stitches.

Hobbs Polydown is wonderful batting, It quilts, washes and wears well. It comes 108" wide and I buy it in a 30 yard roll. I use it on all my baby, kid and college bound quilts as it can just be tossed in the washer and dryer. What really surprised me was that some of our best handquilters in our guild liked this batting as it was uniform, easy to quilt through and gave the quilt some loft and definition. It is also reasonable (about $5 a yard Canadian). Did I say I love this batting?

I usually use the Hobbs 80/20 blend nowadays. I have used Mountain Mist poly in the last and I still like it. I find the 80/20 blend easier to machine quilt with so that is my first choice now. I did have a special request for a poly quilt from my niece last year and used it with 505spray. It worked out fine and she wanted the puffy look.

I love the poufiness of the high loft polyester batting. However I also have a large amount of fleece (which is also polyester I think) that I purchased on sale several years ago. If I'm wanting to do a quickie lap quilt, I will just use the fleece as combination batting/backing. Not nearly as fluffy, but still nice and snuggly. I've also used it instead of batting on a couple of dark colored quilts.

I'm a blendy girl myself. Normally, I go with the Warm brand (W&N or W&W) and now I bought some Warm Blend 50/50. I also have used Hobbs 80/20 and Fairfield 80/20 but that had a bit of bearding which bugged me.
