I normally do not wash first either, I do pre wash flannel due the shrinkage.

I don't prewash either. Has to wash my top when I finished (since my cat got on it) & all the ends frayed :( What a mess - took a long time to clip all the threads that stuck together

ME - but it has nothing to do with lazy. I want the fabric on my finished quilts to shrink up slightly, because I make mostly traditional styly quilts, and we love the look. I always use a color catcher with the first wash, and if giving the quilt to another, include a package of those as well with laundering instructions.

Good morning ~ you not a lone on this... I don't prewash and have never had a problem on the shrinkage or out of shape.. Quilts seem to look so much prettier to me made with unwashed... Just my opinion....Have fun and enjoy making~that is what is great!!

I usually don't, just when i think one will bleed-then I have to wash all the fabric for that project.

If the fabric is stiff, I wash it but normally I don't prewash. When I did some exchanges I did because it was requested.

Definitely, you're not the only one and you're not lazy either! I don't prewash my fabric either. I like the crispness of new fabric. I find it easier to store, cut and sew. Also, I don't like to have to iron out the wrinkles left from washing the fabric. Best Press helps a lot. But there's nothing like the crispness of new fabric.
