What are you all using and what is typical?

I want to make a scrappy log cabin, but was wondering what people use. I've looked up log cabin here on the board and seen many people talk about them, but not so many give the width of the strips that they are using.

    What size have you used?

I think it depends on the size of quilt you are making.
A baby quilt IMHO looks better with smaller strips and a bed quilt looks great with wider ones :D:D:D

A 2" strip finishing at 1 1/2" is my width of choice. I just finished one for a gift-her choice of pattern-that has finished strips of 2" and it seems too wide to me. The size you make them is personal preference and I don't know that there is a "standard" size.

I think they look best no larger than two inches.

I prefer small strips, even in large quilts. I would cut 1 1/2" which would give me 1" finished. I don't think there is a "typical" size. Do it so that you like it.

I use a 2 inch cut size center square and 1 1/2 inch cut size logs. I love really scrappy Log cabins, usually do the traditional red center.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it. I was thinking of using 1.5" (starting size) strips to make one but wondered if it would be too narrow for a bed sized quilt. I do tend to like both thinner and wider, but wondered if there was a standard...

I'm going to start a Heart Log Cabin, and everything, center block and strips are 2", finished at 1-1/2" and its going to be a king size.
