Check with your local libary. Ours lets us get together to sew or do what we want on Wed afternoons.

My LQS "Crafty Cats" is the best. We have a sit and sew on Fridays. It varies as to how many show up it can be from two to 12 . We sometimes have pot luck for lunch or go out to eat. There is no charge, we help each other and the wonderful owner will help us. We do BOM , work on what ever we are working on at home, for the past month we had a contest , we all decorated our folding chairs with a fabric cover and any thing to do with quilting and or Cats (Crafty Cats) We do have a kitty for papergoods, coffee, ect. Its great for someone like me retired with retired mate and no close neighbors I need a girls day with girlstalk

There's only one LQS in my town, so luckily there are a couple of 'drop-ins' a week as well as scheduled classes.

The cost is £5.95/$9.60 per session (3 hours) and the price includes as much tea, coffee and biscuits (cookies) as you want, as well as a teacher on hand to help if you need it.

You have to reserve a place in advance as well a machine if you don't want to take yours.
