Doll or Miniature Quilts -
Do little girls cover their dolls with quilts any more?
Do girls play with dolls and boys play with action figures?
If one does not have any little girls, what do you do with "little somethings" that are not big enough to use for a lap quilt and not spectacular enough to use for a table topper or a wall hanging? and too big to be pot holders?

Make them into throw pillows, maybe?
I've been wanting to do a bunch of small and small-ish art quilts, but I'm not sure what I'd do with them when they're finished, either. But the joy is in the making, what happens to it afterwards isn't necessarily that important to me.

those 18" american girl dolls and their knock offs are very popular. Lie barbie dolls back in he day. And those dolls need clothes and bed quilts a many things that cost lots of money. Anything you can make is unique and precious.

My DD requested a doll quilt from me when she saw her daughter wrapping her doll in a paper towel. I was happy to oblige with 4 quilts (2 each for her and her sister). I hesitated about one that was just two pieces of fabric with flannel batting, quilted then serge stitched around the edges. DD reported that was the first one my granddaughter snatched and claimed for herself.
They also requested doll dresses when I was there for my last visit so I made these from some scraps DD had.

Yes, by all means doll quilts are popular! I have made several to give as gifts, and they are adored and well loved by the little girls. I too started making doll quilts when I noticed play time included covering their little dolls with dish towels, toilet paper, magazines. And I also make several for donation every year to Santa Claus Inc.
Have fun!

My nephew and his wife have a new baby boy and a 2.5 year old girl. I make quilts for the new babies in our family and had made a nice one for the new baby. In the package I also sent a fleece blanket that I had appliqued hearts on, plus crocheted around the edge for the little girl and a matching fleece blanket for her baby doll. Mommy says she wraps that baby doll in the little blanket all of the time.
