    Default From Don-isewman--??? for anyone

1st off, I don't know if I'm posting this ??, in the right area, of this group. It's pertaining to a Dble wedding ring ??.. I hope I will ask this right. I'm in the process of starting the dble wed ring quilt. When sewing the pieces together, to join to that EYE SHAPE template. I know there will be 2 sections to join to that eye shape. I want to join the 1st section(roughly 6 pieces) 1st. Do you sew to the very tip of that eye shape, or back up 1/4'' from the tip of that eye shape. Thanks for any info members. Don-isewman

I haven't done a double wedding ring quilt yet but my initial thought is that you would stop stitching at the seam line 1/4" before the point of the eye (football). Your seam allowance for the ring section would go all the way to the end though if I understand the construction method correctly.

I can't help at all on this one but have a friend that knows. Wish she were here to answer, I'm sure others will help like Mom-6 did. Good luck.

As I remember you match those 1/4" dots from the end of each piece.

There is a you tube of this showing how to do make a double wedding ring. It is excellent. I made ne following directions from it. From centre out the shapes are different shapes and fit so neatly together. After the main test block to chek sizes etc. it was possible to chain piece . This is a 1/9th of mine as I made it in sections.

You are definately in the right place here. I haven't started on my dbl wedding ring quilt yet, but have seen alternative ways to do this. You might like to check out this method with Kaye Woods and Cheryl Phillips on youtube. The first 1/4 isn't relevant but has some interesting tips. I've also come to realise one can make a variety of changes re backing, background and pieced or not rings. Be sure to post a pic of your quilt for us to see, won't you?
