I donated to our church for the school to raffle. I made a baby quilt and matching diaper-wipes-lotion holder with velcro fasteners to go on the crib or near the changing table. It wnet for $30. and I was sick. The second time they put 2 quilts I did with the children and it did not bring in much money. So that is the end of that. The material was more than what they got for it. I didn't even like to think of it as then I feel so unchairtable for being upset.

A happy story.... A quilt that was made for a fund raiser by a guild that met at my fave LQS brought $2700. The committee to build a new fire station was savy at how to get the most for efforts. They sold tickets for about six months at numerous local "fairs" and advertised it with photos in the local paper. Also most of the residents who bought tickets have a vested interest in seeing the firehouse built and know the value of such a quilt.

I recently framed an embroidery that my great GM made for a present for a niece (it was done by her GGGM) as a wedding present. She was underwhelmed by it, and let me know this, but I hope that her daughters are a little better!
It does hang in their bedroom, so there is some hope . . . .
