My sister's quilt guild gave her a "comfort" quilt for me when I was going through cancer two years ago.
LOL, she didn't send it, but waited until I next came to visit her (out-of-state) after finishing radiation!
If you're making one for a friend, the sooner you deliver it, the more comfort it can give.
