I went to an estate sale and for $25 I got 40 pounds of fabric (I weighed it) and a 3' x 7' cutting mat plus several patterns from the 30's. I cut the mat into two large pieces. I have one on my tall cutting table and one on top of a small dinner table that I use in my sewing room.
I recently had a garage sale in my front bedroom of quilting fabrics, etc., and I made $400.

DH went to garage sale when I was out of town. Bought two HUGE rolls of Debbie Mumm fabric for 25.00. Trouble is they're both doggie prints--will have to come up with some imaginative dog quilts in the years to come!
I did manage to score a roll of quilt batting for only 50 bucks--the good stuff, never opened--it should last me awhile. DH said he never would have looked twice at it!
