Don't Judge My Quilting Space
#1
Tonight, I opted to enlighten my huband as to his comment a few days ago referring to my housekeeping or lack thereof. Of course this was during a disagreement and I would like to say right now that I am a spoiled woman. He cooks, cleans regularly and is an awesome contributor with the chores.
However, when he threw into the mix, how I had cleaned my quilting room and organized everything perfectly and now it was a mess again... I let it go at the time. I had to ponder how I would address his obvious misconception of MY SPACE and how I kept it.
Tonight I asked him to come to the door of my quilt room and just listen for a minute as to his comment a few days prior. I explained that a quilt room is for being creative, not about perfect organization. (I have been cutting hundreds of apple cores out of each piece of fabric I have and got tired of folding after each one.) So, by piling up all the remnants and scraps I made quite a mess.
I told him, "This space is my space... this is where I work and create and if I want to make messes, then so be it. This is My Space. Your shop is YOUR SPACE. You can keep it any way you want, it is YOUR SPACE. That was the end of it as he walked away ... knowing his shop was a mess. I am just sayin... Sometimes look at yourself before you judge.

LOL - My studio gets cleaned up so I can mess it up again on purpose! It happens every time I begin a new project --- it is just the nature of quilting. I am lucky that my studio is in a room over the garage - no one knows what it looks like in there unless I invite them in.

thanks gals. I do believe that I also clean it up every time I am about to start a new project. A fresh start and then dig in and trash it all over again. It is so darn fun.
I was doing that just tonight, finally folding all the scraps in piles in order to dig into some Funky Chicken blocks. I can't wait to do these.

You can remind him to be thankful that your sewing space is in a room all it's own. My sewing space is in the kitchen at the table...and boy...you should see the mess of it!!! :) :)
