    Default Don't they make it?

When I began quilting, my first ruler was a 6 x 12" Fiskars. Love that ruler but the markings are gradually wearing off of it. Then last week it hit the floor and it cracked. I'd like to replace it but not finding one exactly like it (perfect condition, of course). I have another with these measurements but the markings are not as nice as my old orange one. Is this another of those--good idea but they don't make it any more items?

For discontinued items, you can check Ebay and Etsy. You can also post a request on the "In Search Of..." forum of this board:

I know how it is when you are used to a specific tool that is discontinued & you wished you had bought several of! I really like my teal and purple KAI 45MM rotary cutter from the 90's. There's a plastic part that wears out. I brought it to a show and the KAI representative just laughed & laughed. No replacement parts. I have found several, however on line using the resources above. good luck!

I also liked the orange markings on the Fiskars rulers however they don't make them anymore. You can find Fiskars in Walmart or Joann's but the markings are black. I have switched to "Creative Grid" rulers and really like them . The markings are clear and easy to read and the back of the ruler has a film on it that prevents it from sliding. good Luck in you search

I never tried the Fiskars rulers. I have always used Omnigrid since that is what JAF carried.

things do change for some reason. I've loved my old 9 1/2 inch but can't find a new one that size.

I have a set of old rulers that I got way way back in the day (mid-80s) -- Trudie Hughs, 3 1/2 inch wide and 22 long with an accessory ruler that works together with the long one to make pretty much any cut I ever need. I learned rotary cutting with this set, and even as the numbers wear off, I just can't like any other ruler as much. I've got several others, but it's like I'm imprinted on this particular ruler. Of course it is long out of production. So you have my sympathies. I understand rotary ruler fixation.

Yes, I cracked my Omnigrid ruler & purchased another and even though the picture looked the same on Amazon.com, the lines are a different color.

I like having the exact size ruler for each size I'm cutting. Saves me a lot of time. Now that I have the Go I don't use them much anymore though.
