That looks great. I haven't tried the double needle yet. How did you get your lines so straight?

It works out fabulously if you do this type of decorative stitching BEFORE sandwiching. Then you quilt as normal and don't have to worry about how it looks on the back.

It looks quite tailored - I really like it - looks like the batting might be stitched with it.

I like this idea. Then you won't have a zigzag stitch showing on the back from the twin needle.

When I bought my new machine last year it came with a double needle. I didn't have a clue what it was for. Now I know and plan to at least try using it for something.

That is a great idea, but I am not too crazy about what the back will look like. I guess if you have a busy print on the back it would be okay. I used to use the twin needles when I sewed apparel. Now I have a serger that does the cover stitch, which is the same as on knit shirts etc. Looks much nicer from the back than the twin needle.

The back isn't as attractive. Basically it is a zigzag. Would be fine for a wallhanging; not so sure about a bed quilt.

Yes, I think that would work. Someone showed a project recently where they had used the double needle to sew down the narrow tape used for stained glass quilts. I think hers was a Celtic quilt design.
