Double Pinning
I had been wondering how I was going to get the little "streets" between the other pieces to line up. I tried this and it works really well. First I put in a pin facing north to south. That allows me to open the pieces to see if they line up okay. When I am happy with that placement, I put in a second pin facing west to east, and take out the other one. I have done seven little groups of four blocks this way and they are lining up very nicely.
With the sashing that is just one inch, I was not ready to deal with one inch squares as well.
