I love the Twisted Bargello, and it would be much faster.

I would trick the couple into looking at some of your quilts and "by chance" some patterns including these two options, and see to which they will react. Trust me every person will fall in love with one specific pic without even noticing that but you can tell by their comments. You have plenty of time to do that.
    Good luck

Both are very nice patterns. What if you did the DWR in contemporary fabrics or batiks? It would give a modern look to a traditional pattern. One that comes to mind is the Bali Wedding Stars pattern. It should give you an idea of how the DWR could look in batiks. Here are a few images to help inspire you:

I'd go with the bargello. The younger kids in my family would think wedding ring was too old fashion. If you have a chance, look at her bedroom now, thawould give you an idea of her taste.

I'd suggesting asking the DIL to help you pick the pattern for the next quilt you make, she doesn't have to know it is for her. If you show her both she'll be sure to tell you which one she likes best. I did that with my DIL. I told her I was having trouble deciding which pattern I liked best for my next project and asked her opinion.

I'm in that general age group (24) and I've got to say, I adore the Bargello quilts about a million times more than the DWR. Personal preference is always a factor, of course, but they would probably get more use out of displaying a Bargello for its 'ooooh, aaaaah' factor than appreciating the tradition of the DWR.

As always ---- you all have been so helpful! Thank you, each one, for your input.

I believe the general consensus is leaning toward the Bargello.... but will show them each some pics to get their opinion of my next project so that I may get their unbiased opinion.

    Thanks a million!!!
