Dryer sheets?
#21
LOL, I had the same idea! Heard it from somewhere! I asked by friends and family to save their used dryer sheets. Did I get a shock when I picked them up!! I, apparently, am the only one who used unscented!! Oh my!! And of course, each family used a different scent. Needless to say, they all went in the trash (I am allergic) and thankfully, no one asked to see the quilt I was going to make!! Valuable lesson learned LOL!

I save them all and use for a variety of foundation projects and they have never gummed up my needle. I also paint them for a light transparent look in art quilts. I like the slight fragrance that remains after removing from dryer.

The one by "SEventh Generation" can be used quite a few times. They're perforated so you can split them down the middle. I can use one split for one load of denim shirts, then the same for denim jeans, then bath towels. They're dye and fragrant free. After that I can use for paper piecing scraps. I don't use them for applique.

I have made many quilts using used dryer sheets as a foundation. Scented and non scented, my nose could not detect any scent after being in a washing machine or dryer. I just sew the fabric to the sheets and used up all of my scraps that way. When I have enough, I make a quilt. It is an ongoing project for me. I keep a small bag for the dryer sheets, press lightly with a warm iron when I get ready to sew.
