What machine do you have that has an 11 inch harp? I don't think I would want to get one any smaller than that.

I just found a Janome MC 7700 QCP for a great price (it is used) and it has an 11 inch harp. Anyone have this machine (or similiar models) and have any reviews? It seems like Janome is a very good brand and people seem to love them.

I would check out dealers in your area, they might have a higher end trade in, that would be just what you need, that's how I got my Elna Quilter's Dream, it has about a 9 1/2" harp space, but I still have problems wrestling with the quilt, so as soon as I have a bigger space and money, a Bailey I will get. From what I've seen on the pricing for the Baby Lock Crescendo, you can get a Bailey and have some change left over, http://www.baileyssewingcenter.com/

I test drove the Sweet 16 last spring (and BabyLock Tiara, same machine, just different paint job) ... very impressed.
I did buy the Bernina 820 with a larger harp, thinking that it was hard to justify the S16 as it would sit idle while I did piecing.
However, I soon discovered, it's not all about harp size .... also height. For the DSMs, we get the bigger width, but no extra height. In hindsight, I now can see the justification of buying the S16, and having kept my old machine as it did everything I wanted it to do ...... except the FMQ freedom of space. I don't regret my new machine, but the visibility from the high clearance of an S16 (or comparable) would be such a dream when doing FMQing! ......... and yes, I am still lusting over it!
So, consider what you really need/want in a machine switch.
Go and test drive some of each ... and see what works for you!
(not what others tell you!!!)
