I got it too! It did say that IF you didn't want it... that I was under NO obligation to pay for it. It was mine to KEEP! Then 3 weeks later I got a letter asking me to return in enclosed envelope (WHAT ENVELOPE) OR I could keep it.
I didn't order it... not sending it back because not postage paid... AND it again said I could keep it FREE!
Hubby said not to worry about it. You don't have to pay for anything that you didn't order. Never seen him steer me wrong yet!
My advise... don't worry about it!
    We didn't order...we don't pay!!!

I don't even get the mag!!! LOL

This is a terrible marketing scheme and makes me go sour on these companies who are using these tactics. If it continues with me, I will not subscribe to McCalls nor BH&G Quilting mags. BH&G sent me a cookbook, Readers Digest sent me condensed books and McCalls is sending out DVD's. I am not sure who sold my address to Readers digest. I am livid about these tactics and what a pain to return!

I got one of those but did not watch it, I just put it in the return envelope and returned it. I hate it when they send these things.

I recieved that DVD. After informing you to return at their cost if not interested you will see that it says if you do not wish to pertisapate that you can keep the DVD as a gift since you did not ask for it. I kept the letter that it came with in case they send me any more letters for payment. I haven't viewed it yet but when I find were I put it I think it will be very informative LOL

McCall's sent me one two, I actually liked what was on the DVD and $12.95 was O.K., but the next ones would of been $29.95. Out of the question. Here's what they said in everybody's literature:

When I get unsolicited "gifts" in the mail, if I want them, I smile and say thank you! because it's a free gift that I don't have to pay for. If I don't want it, I toss it and forget about it. And all further mail regarding it, I also toss. If they think they can get my money for something I didn't order, they can sue me for it! LOL But of course they won't because they DO know that you do not have to pay for it. They are counting on people's ignorance of the law and hoping to "hook" a certain percentage of those that they send free items to.

I do this as well and it does seem to work.

Usually a quick courtesy phone call will stop all further mailings.
If they try and sell me on the offer, I simply state, "no thank you, remove my name from your list, and "what is your name please"? Then I file the notes away for the future in case anything comes back to haunt me.

I want to quilt today, not tear my craft room apart looking for this darn thing. I may have to send in the 12.95 for something that I didn't order if I cant find it........
It used to be that if you receive something you didn't order, you don't have to pay for it.
