I love her directions and started years ago making a double Irish chain. That book is ancient and falling apart but I am making it again only with florals and greens in a scrappy quilt this time.

My first E. Burns book was Underground Railroad. I love it. All her books are great and easy to read and understand.

I love all of her books for beginning quilters. Her pictures are great, her techniques make even tricky things easy and if you follow her carefully, you are pretty much guaranteed success. Having said all of that, which one do you want first? I don't think you can go wrong. I am working on Night and Day, because I am a stars nut. It's very easy if you just follow along.

I'd say buy all of them! I buy her books as soon as I can.

I taught myself to quilt with her very first book "Log Cabin in a Day." It has hand drawn pictures and is in black & white. I still have it.

The log cabin book has been updated with color photos according to her site... you can now buy another  Now I'll just have to sell my sewing machine to buy all the books ;-)
