I love Eleanor Burns and actually started quilting because I watched her show and thought "I can do that"!!!! Just brought my Egg Money Sampler quilt to the Long Arm Quilter this weekend. I can't wait to see how it comes out. The book had a lot of historical info and recipes. I enjoyed doing the sampler one lap sized quilt. Her instructions are very easy to understand.

I love her too. My first EB quilt in a Day was a trip around the world. In the beginning of the book she gave credit to her ex-husband for finding the methods she/her company uses to streamline quilt making. I found that refreshing. After making that quilt I attended a weekend retreat where she taught a class. She was a good teacher and so nice, making sure all in the class got to have a picture with her if they wanted it. She autographed everyone's book(Day and Night) that we were working from. I even bought a machine that she autographed. She is a hoot, especially at her trunk show. Her voice just makes me smile(unlike Julia Child who I couldn't stand). She has many good quilting tips and techniques.

Eleanor is great! She explains how to quilt in a very down to earth way, so that even my 7 year old grandaughter can follow her directions.

I LOVE Eleanor's techniques, but the kindergarden teacher voice makes me crazy. I love her DVDs - can watch her anytime. The people that work with her, call her Miss Eleanor and adore her too!

I always liked EB and her patterns, and she is quite helpful for new quilters. However, I had a whole new respect for her when I attended a program at her shop in California recently. She was broke, divorced and had 2 small children whom she had to support. She told the group how she even had her kids help her "dumpster dive" for usable goods. She found a job at the local town rec center teaching quilt-making, so had to run home and whip up 2 sample place mats in order to show that she could actually quilt. Her classes soon became so popular that she wrote manuals (then books) to assist the students, and her classes tripled. Now, her adult sons and other family members work with her in her business. What a great success story of hard work, humility and determination!

I love her and her quilts. She is an inspiration and living the "when life gives you scraps, make quilts" adage. Keep tossing those scraps Eleanor!
PS, I have made 8 log cabin quilts from her pattern.

I do like Eleanor Burns. She finds easier ways to do some of the more difficult jobs in piecing (Y seams, curved seams, etc). She explains things well and makes producing a quilt easier. I can't get with her flinging scraps over her shoulder, but that appears to have become her trademark.

I think she has a lot to contribute and has a great following...I personally can not listen to her voice for very long...sorry Eleanor! But she knows her stuff!

I definatley love Eleanor Burns. I have done the Underground Railroad. She has some of the easiest techniques. I try to apply these techniques when doing all my quilts. I was fortunate to meet her in person in Nashville a few years back and she signed my Victory Quilts book. I am trying to have a collection of all her books. I also tape her show on RFDTV and enjoy watching her work and tell her stories.PS I also went to a seminar way back and I must say she is hilarious but educational as well.
