Default Embroidered name on a quilt

Should I have the baby's name and DOB embroidered after the quilt is assembled or before. Thank you. Making the Mommy and Me quilt.

If it's machine embroidered, before assembling. You don't want a mistake or a goof-up to spoil the quilt.

Agree with Pam, as well as the back doesn't look as nice of the embroidery.

Default Adding label to back before binding

I like to place the label on a back corner of the quilt before I sew on the binding. When you flip the binding to the back 2 raw edges of the label are covered with the binding, the other 2 edges, you must hand sew.

Sorry the picture will not load.

Machine embroidery should be done before sandwiching, or as an attached label. An attached label can be added either before or after quilting.

Hand embroidery can be done either before or after quilting. If adding after quilting I would be careful to get the back of the stitches into the middle of the sandwich.

I use do any embroidery work on a block which I incorporate into the back of the quilt. I guess I'll do anything to avoid handwork!

I machine embroider that information onto the quilt backing, before sandwiching and quilting.
