I just received my Brother SE 400 and am reading about downloading designs from the internet. Should they be zipped or unzipped and how do you get the software to do it? TIA

I download and store my designs in a zipped format -- saves disk space. I use WinZip to extract the actual design files. You can get an evaluation copy at www.winzip.com. I recommend purchasing the software eventually.

    Hope this helps.

I found a free program called "Unzip Them All" I have used it for years and LOVE it! If you are new to emb I would suggest that you unzip your files ..keep the zips in a seperate folder and keep that folder backed up to disk on a regular basis. Then delete the formats that you don't need. There's no need taking up space on your computer with something you don't need...right?

Depends on your computer I guess. I don't use a separate program to unzip.
