I have a Brother PE770 and I would like to know the difference between the software programs for it.

PED Basic and PED Design Lite?

I am just beginning my journey into machine embroidery. And find myself in need of a program that helps resize, do some sort of layout for things like labels and such.

PED Basic is for importing designs and writing them to the card for embroidery.

PED Design Lite allows you to do editing, auto-digitizing, combing designs, and it should do resizing.

    It is also upgradeable.

If you are going to be buying new software, you might want to check into Embird. It is a fabulous program.

Depending on how much you want to spend, Floriani's Embroidery Suite is absolutely the best I've ever seen. Great tutorials.

You can also try the products from www.sandscomputing.com. They have free 30 day trials of their products. I find their products easy to use and anytime there is an improvement or upgrade to the product the upgrade is free. Their prices are very reasonable too and will work for any machine.

These are all good programs, but if the card didn't come with the machine you will need to purchae that separately. I am not familiar with this machine, but I waited for PED basic to be on sale and it came with the card.

Also know that the cards for the Basic and Lite are NOT interchangeable so you can't "upgrade" to the Basic. 8If you want to add wording to a design you will need the
Basic. Iv'e used it for 4-5 months and it meets all my needs.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am still shopping around. It takes me forever to decide on any type of software even when it comes to video games.
